Major hurricane Ken south of Jamaica expected to move in a northerly direction across the island, bringing life threathening storm surge to southern coastal areas. Gale-force winds to affect all paorishes and extensive flooding expected to impact low-lying and flood prone areas of all parishes. Expect roads to be flooded and communities to be inacessaible. Downed power lines, trees and damage to buildings and utililities expected.

Person in low-lying and flood prone areas of southern parishes(Rae Town, Portland Cottage, Black River) are urged to evacuate to a designated safe shelter as advised by ODPEM.
